LOS ANGELES -- Lisa Leslie has become the first WNBA player to score 6,000 career points.
Leslie reached the milestone in the second quarter of the Los Angeles Sparks' game against the Indiana Fever, making an 11-foot jumper as the shot-clock buzzer sounded with 11.9 seconds left before halftime.
Leslie had 11 points at the break as the Sparks led 37-22 against the Fever, who entered the game with a league-best 17-4 record.
Leslie, one of four remaining players from the league's first season in 1997, began the year with 5,909 points but missed 11 games due to a sprained right knee and bruised right hip.
The eight-time All-Star also began the night tops in career rebounds with 3,203.
