The Seattle Storm's Sue Bird played her 500th career game Sunday to set the WNBA record for games played.
The milestone came in the Storm's 87-74 loss to the Dream in Atlanta. Bird finished with 12 points, 6 assists and 2 rebounds.
She tweeted a thank you for all the congratulations she received on the milestone.
Quick thank you for all the messages & support. 500x I've gone to war with some amazing teammates & coaches, against some amazing competition, and in front of some amazing fans. Thank you to all of you 👏🏼👏🏼 https://t.co/QmV3xCa5Cg— Sue Bird (@S10Bird) July 22, 2018
Bird broke a tie with DeLisha Milton-Jones (499) to set the mark.
Bird, who was selected to her record 11th All-Star Game last week, is already the all-time WNBA assists leader, breaking that record last September.
