Scary thought about Oregon for the rest of the Pac 12 and rest of the country. Some people think incoming recruit Satou Sabally, from Germany, might be the best of the whole young bunch. Coach Kelly Graves had good fortune with Germany in his last stop with Sunny Greinacher at Gonzaga.

Earlier this week, Oregon coach Kelly Graves recalled that after about two or three minutes of Duke game in second round, he walked up and down the bench telling players "Guys, we're better than them." Never sensed nervousness: "I think they've had kind of a fun loving atmosphere the whole time. ... These kids are a little goofy. They're just having some fun."

Big day for Spain WBB; Maite Cazorla helps Oregon make Elite 8, Leticia Romero will try to help Florida State do same. Both from Las Palmas.

Oregon WBB is youth-led team this year, not unlike Maryland was when it won 2006 NCAA title. But Ducks could have UConn in path, if Huskies win Sweet 16 matchup today with UCLA. Still, what a season it's been for Ducks' Sabrina Ionescu, the espnW national freshman of the year, who had 21 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds in beating Maryland. Fellow freshman Ruthy Hebard had 16 points, 8 rebounds.

Double-digit seeds to make WBB Elite 8: No. 10 Lamar (1991, lost to Virginia); No. 11 Gonzaga (2011, lost to Stanford), No. 10 Oregon (2017)

No. 10 Oregon keeps upset train going with biggest yet: 77-63 over No. 3 seed Maryland. Ducks third double-digit seed ever to make Elite 8.

To be fair because the committee was criticized all season for it's view of Maryland, that view was, to a degree, validated today. That is not to diminish what Oregon has accomplished. The Ducks won this game, the Terps didn't lose it, but Maryland had two chances to prove the committee wrong this season -- Ohio State and today -- and it came up short both times.

Oregon WBB upsets No. 3 seed Maryland 77-63, becomes just second No. 10 seed in NCAA women's tournament to advance to Elite Eight. The other was Lamar in 1991. The other double-digit seed to advance this far was No. 11 Gonzaga in 2011; Bulldogs were coached then by Kelly Graves, who now coaches Oregon. In this tournament, Ducks previously upset No. 7 Temple and No. 2 Duke, will face winner of No. 1 UConn vs. No. 4 UCLA on Monday in Bridgeport Regional final.

I know Maryland fans are unhappy about the ticket situation in Bridgeport and they should be. It stinks. But looking at the other side, if you saw the attendance in Lexington last night it's hard to blame anyone for selling tickets to whomever and whenever they can.

A Pac-12 team, Washington, upset Maryland WBB last season in the NCAA tournament. Will Oregon do it today? Ducks up 59-47 after 3 quarters.
