Great response after halftime from the Huskies, who have cut Mississippi State's lead to two behind eight points from Kelsey Plum in five minutes. State coach Vic Schaefer has gone to his usual starters earlier this half, but we still have yet to see leading scorer Victoria Vivians.

Victoria Vivians checking into game at 4:38 mark of 3rd quarter. Mississippi State leads 44-42. UW's Kelsey Plum has 8 points in this qrt.

Considering how well Victoria Vivians played in the 2nd quarter, just how long does Vic Schaefer want to sit her now?

This weekend was supposed to be Makayla Epps' farewell to the state, but it might mark the arrival of Kentucky native Erin Boley for ND.

Mississippi State WBB begins second half with same starters as beginning of game. How quickly will the "subs" start coming in?

While Amherst recently won NCAA D3 title this season, Thomas More College team recognized at halftime at Rupp Arena. Thomas More (in Kentucky) won back to back titles on the court in 2015 and 2016, undefeated both times. Would have had a 94 game winning streak snapped in this year's tournament, but the 2015 title and victories were vacated for rules violations.

Mississippi State WBB out-rebounding Washington 25-13 in the first half. Leading rebounder? Believe it or not, PG Morgan William with 5.

Since Mississippi State brought in its usual starters, it's been all Bulldogs. They've outscored UW 27-9 since falling behind 20-11 early, taking a 38-29 lead to the break in Oklahoma City. State's stout defense has held Kelsey Plum to 10 points on 2-of-9 shooting. And the Bulldogs have as many offensive rebounds as the Huskies have defensive boards (11 apiece).

Mechelle Voepel @MechelleV

Washington's Kelsey Plum 2 of 9 from field, 4 of 4 from line for 10 points in 1st half. Chantel Osahor leads Huskies with 13 points.

Mechelle Voepel @MechelleV

Big turnaround for Mississippi State in 2nd quarter, as Bulldogs almost double their 1st quarter point total. MSU leads 38-29 at halftime.

If the Victoria Vivians who can take over games has been switched on, look out. She has 9 points in 2nd quarter for Mississippi State.

Make no mistake. No. 1 Notre Dame misses Brianna Turner. But Irish are not exactly struggling to score points. Lead No. 5 Ohio State 50-42 at half. Arike Ogunbowale missed her first four shots, hit six of next seven and has 17 points.

Mechelle Voepel @MechelleV

Mississippi State WBB shot 25 percent in 1st quarter; shooting 58.3 percent so far in 2nd quarter, leads 29-26.

The defensive glass has been an issue for the undersized Huskies. Mississippi State is rebounding nearly half its misses. Chantel Osahor has just two defensive boards.

Mississippi State's dominant defense has shown up. The Huskies have just two points in nearly six minutes. They still lead 22-18.

Washington WBB lead Mississippi State 20-13 after 1st quarter. Bulldogs are shooting 4 of 16 from field.

As long as Chantel Osahor avoids fouls, I think UW will live with a steady stream of Mississippi State post-ups. Bulldogs centers Teaira McCowan and Chinwe Okorie shot a combined 1-of-5 in the first quarter.

Stanford shot Notre Dame out of the tournament here last year in the Sweet 16. Ohio State hot early from 3 point line but Irish hotter. Lead 33-27 and are 6-9 from 3-point line. Someone was asking teams yesterday about adjusting to shooting background in large arena. Not exactly a problem so far.

Graham Hays espnW.com

Freshman Erin Boley played just seven minutes for Notre Dame in second round. Didn't come off the court in the first quarter tonight and looked confident rebounding and knocking down a 3. With the way Ohio State is running bodies in and out of the game, ND will need Boley's minutes. Really up tempo first 10 minutes.

Kevin Pelton ESPN Staff Writer

Freshman Aarion McDonald continues to be the third scorer the Huskies need in the NCAA tournament. She's got six points in the first five minutes against Mississippi State after scoring 33 combined in Washington's first two games.
