ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop forward Erica Williams, the Big South Conference's leading scorer, will miss the rest of the season with a broken foot.
Eagles coach Kevin Cook announced Williams' status Wednesday.
Williams, a 5-foot-10 junior, had averaged 16.4 points this season to lead the league. She was injured late in Winthrop's 58-50 loss to Charleston Southern on Saturday.
Cook held out hope the injury was not as serious and that Williams might miss only a few weeks. He said Wednesday, however, that surgery has been scheduled to repair the break, meaning Williams would not return.
The Eagles (3-18) have lost three straight heading into Saturday's game at Gardner-Webb.
