South Carolina standout A'ja Wilson won't participate in overseas Four Nations Tournament

South Carolina Gamecocks senior post player A'ja Wilson is injured and will not be able to participate in the upcoming Four Nations Tournament Aug. 12-15 in Tokyo, Japan.

Wilson, the 2017 Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, was announced Friday as part of the U.S. roster for the Under-23 event. But on Saturday, USA Basketball announced that Wilson is out because of a groin strain.

Ohio State guard Linnae Harper has been added to the U.S. roster; her backcourt mate with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Kelsey Mitchell, was already a member of the team.

Harper's inclusion makes the U.S. squad even more guard-heavy. The other guards on the team: Texas' Ariel Atkins, Louisville's Asia Durr, Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu, Stanford's Brittany McPhee, Notre Dame's Arike Ogunbowale, and UCLA's Jordin Canada.

Also on the team is guard/forward Jaime Nared of Tennessee. With the 6-foot-5 Wilson out, the only true post players now are Tennessee center Mercedes Russell, Baylor center Kalani Brown, and UCLA forward Monique Billings.

The team is coached by Louisville's Jeff Walz.
