STORRS, Conn. -- UConn sophomore Lexi Gordon is leaving the program.
The 6-foot wing from Texas has scored just 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while getting limited action in 30 games for the top-ranked Huskies. She has played only 10 minutes this season, notching a single free throw, while missing all five of her shots from the field.
Coach Geno Auriemma says Gordon wants to transfer to a school where she will have more opportunities to play.
He called her a great teammate.
Gordon said in a statement that she was grateful for her time at UConn, where she said she learned what it took to be part of a championship program.
Gordon, whose parents both played basketball at TCU, scored more than 2,000 points at L.D Bell High School in Hurst, Texas, where she averaged 24.7 points and 9.5 rebounds as a senior.
