DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke freshman Elizabeth Williams will play with a stress fracture in her lower right leg during the NCAA tournament, which for the second-seeded Blue Devils begins Sunday against Samford.
Duke announced Friday that Williams is expected to play and will attempt to recover by resting the leg during the offseason.
Williams is Duke's leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She was the ACC rookie of the year and a first-team all-ACC selection. She is a finalist for the John R. Wooden award, which honors the top player in the country.
Duke and Samford meet Sunday in Nashville, Tenn. (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2).
