Notes from the 1985 MNF season:
1985 was a transition year as far as the announcing team, with three ex-NFLers doing the call: Frank Gifford, O.J. Simpson and Joe Namath. It was Simpson's last season and Namath's only season in the booth.
The Dec. 2 matchup between the Bears and Dolphins in Miami was historic. The Bears entered the game 12-0 and were threatening the 1972 Dolphins' perfect record. The Dolphins defeated the Bears 38-24 in the highest-rated Monday Night game ever: 29.6 rating, 46 percent share.
Da Bears had another memorable moment, on Oct. 21 versus Green Bay, William "The Refrigerator" Perry lined up as a fullback and scored a touchdown in Chicago's 23-7 win over Green Bay at Soldier Field.
The ugliest moment of the season occurred on Nov. 18, when Lawrence Taylor hit Joe Theismann and broke his leg, effectively ending his career. The Redskins went on to defeat the Giants 23-21.
