The Vertical Video + Carousel ad is a premium ad unit for mobile devices featuring a vertically-oriented creative with video. Just below the main video is an image carousel with accompanying description text that users can interact with.

  • Users can play video or scroll through the image carousel with CTA text at the bottom.
  • Description text changes with the carousel images.
  • Must be built and served in-house by ESPN. Third-party tracking is supported.

Required Assets to be Delivered to ESPN
  • One 4:3 aspect ratio video (1280x960)
  • One 1280x960 video thumbnail (2x density)
  • Minimum of three carousel images, maximum of six images.
  • Each carousel image must include a title and description text, 355 characters max.
  • Hi-Res EPS logo (will be formatted during creative build)
  • Any necessary font files. Must be Adobe Fonts or webfont files (EOT, WOFF, WOFF2, SVG are accepted). Free fonts, including Google Fonts, are not accepted.
  • CTA text, 10 characters max.
Animation/Ad Behavior
  • Video playback must be user-initiated on click only. No autoplay.
  • Clicking anywhere on the video image will initiate playback.
  • Users may scroll through the image carousel using the arrow buttons. Images not in focus will darken while the focused image will be in full color.
  • Focused image titles and descriptions will fade in and out as users scroll the images.
  • Client logo and CTA will click to open in a new window. Logo must be placed in the CTA area.
Video
  • Video playback must be user-initiated on click only.
  • Filesize must be 10MB or less, no duration limit. 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • Video will open in native player. Custom or embedded video players are not supported.
Capping
No capping restrictions.
Third-Party Tag
Must be built and first-party served by ESPN. Third-party impression and click tracking is allowed.
Submission Deadline
Please allow a minimum of ten business days for testing and approval.
HTTPS Compatibility
  • All creative, including third-party tags and third-party tracking tags, must use secure protocol (HTTPS).
  • Any creative that is not fully secure will be sent back for revisions.
This ad must be created in-house by ESPN and will be built to ESPN's HTML5 requirements.
