The Phoenix Fuel Masters have signed free agents RR Garcia and Davon Potts ahead of the season-ending PBA Governors' Cup.
Alas said signing the two were necessary with LA Revilla and Jaypee Mendoza still recovering from their respective bone spur surgeries.
"[We signed them] first and foremost because we need extra warm bodies. There are a lot of injuries," Phoenix coach Louie Alas told ESPN5.com.
Garcia tried out for Rain or Shine before signing a contract with the Fuel Masters and even played against Phoenix last September 5 in a tune-up game. Potts, meanwhile, practiced with the Elasto Painters in August but failed to strike a deal with them.
"RR is a talented, skilled guard while Davon's a floor-spacer," Alas noted.
Potts, a 2017 draft pick by Alaska, was not able to renew his contract with the Aces upon its expiration last August, while Garcia's own contract with TNT KaTropa expired after failing to play a single game with them this year.
Alas declined to provide details of their contracts and if they would become regular fixtures in the team's rotation.
Phoenix will open its Governors' Cup campaign against NLEX on September 21.
