Stars prospects will be back in action today as the semifinals are played at the 2011 World Junior Championship in Buffalo.
The USA vs. Canada semifinal game will be getting all the hype, but Stars defense prospects Patrik Nemeth and John Klingberg will play the early game as their Swedish team takes on Russia in the first semifinal game. The Russians scored two goals in the final 3:41 to tie Finland and then won 4-3 in overtime Sunday to advance to the semis.
Sweden beat Russia 2-0 in the preliminary round. Monday’s rematch is at 2:30 p.m. (Central Time) and it will be carried on the NHL Network in the United States.
The second semifinal game pits Stars goaltending prospect Jack Campbell and Team USA against Canada, which fell behind early but rallied to beat Switzerland 4-1 in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
The USA beat Canada 6-5 in overtime in last year’s gold medal game and Campbell was the winning goalie. Game time is 6:30 p.m. (Central Time) and it will be carried on the NHL Network in the United States.
