The entire ACC needs to step up this bowl season, as the conference is in search of its first winning bowl record since it went 5-3 in 2005. In order for that to happen, each team has a few individuals who will need to rise to the occasion this postseason. It could be one player, coach, or an entire unit. Each day we'll take a different look at who in the ACC needs to step up for each team, starting with the Eagles.
Who needs to step up?
Quarterback Chase Rettig: The true freshman took positive strides in the second half of the season, but this is an opportunity for a performance he can really build on heading into winter conditioning. If Boston College is going to beat Nevada, which is seventh in the country in scoring at 42.62 points per game, Rettig is going to have to lead the Eagles on a scoring drive or seven. BC is 109th in the country in scoring offense, averaging 18.92 points per game. BC has relied on its defense to win games, and it's worked, but the offense will have to hold up its end of the bargain in this one. Nevada's defense is pass friendly, so it's a good opportunity for Rettig to take another step. The Wolf Pack is No. 106 in the country in pass defense.
