It's been a rewarding week for BC linebacker Luke Kuechly.
Just days after winning the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker, Kuechly on Wednesday won the Lombardi Award as the nation's top collegiate lineman. Kuechly, who leads the nation with 191 tackles this season, beat out Alabama linebackers Courtney Upshaw and Dont'a Hightower and Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin for the award.
Kuechly has a school- and ACC-record 532 career tackles. He is the award's first recipient from Boston College. Kuechly has had 10 or more tackles in 33 of his 37 career games. He had 191 tackles this season and 183 last season, the top two single-season totals in ACC history.
Kuechly, a junior, is No. 12 on the Scouts Inc. Top 32 players for the 2012 NFL draft. He is also No. 10 on Mel Kiper's latest Big Board.
