Dave Doeren filling staff quickly

While NC State interim coach Dana Bible is trying to prepare the Wolfpack for its Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl game against Vanderbilt, first-year coach Dave Doeren has announced Bible's replacement as offensive coordinator, along with several other hires.

Um, yeah, just a wee bit. Has to be. Bible was good friends with former coach Tom O'Brien, who was fired, and now he's got to pick up the pieces and try to win a bowl game knowing it will be his last with the program. Bible declined an interview request.

Here's a quick briefing of Doeren's hires so far:

  • Eddie Faulkner, who spent last season at Wisconsin, will coach the Wolfpack tight ends and fullbacks and serve as special teams coordinator.

  • Former NFL wide receiver Frisman Jackson will coach the same position for the Wolfpack. Jackson spent last season on Doeren’s staff at Northern Illinois.

  • Desmond “Des” Kitchings will remain on the Wolfpack staff as running backs coach. Kitchings coached running backs and tight ends for the Wolfpack in 2012.

  • Matt Canada has joined the staff as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Canada comes to the Wolfpack from Wisconsin, where he spent the 2012 season in that same position.

  • Dave Huxtable, a 31-year coaching veteran, has joined his staff and will serve as defensive coordinator. Huxtable comes to Raleigh after spending last season as defensive coordinator at Pitt.
