Georgia Tech’s first football game against Georgia Southern has been moved up one year, from 2015 to 2014, the school announced on Tuesday.
The change in the schedule fills a vacancy in Tech’s 2014 schedule and coincides with Georgia Southern’s move from the FCS to FBS as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Eagles are coached by Jeff Monken, who was an assistant coach at Georgia Tech from 2007-09 and served six seasons as an assistant coach at Navy under Paul Johnson. Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern have never previously met in football.
The Yellow Jackets’ 2014 nonconference schedule is now complete, with home games against Georgia Southern and Wofford, and road games at Tulane and Georgia.
Tentative dates for 2014 nonconference schedule
