Source: Paul Chryst to Wisconsin

Former Wisconsin assistant and current Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst is poised to become the Badgers' new head coach, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.

An announcement could come as early as Friday, but one Pitt source told ESPN that as of 8:30 a.m., Chryst had not informed Pitt officials he was leaving.

Paul Chryst helped run a powerful Wisconsin offense from 2005-11.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the news Thursday night, citing a source.

Chryst would replace Gary Andersen, who left the Badgers earlier this week after two seasons to take the head-coaching job at Oregon State.
