Bottom line on Jets-Patriots rematch

ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss put together a tidy analysis on what next Monday night's rematch between the New York Jets and New England Patriots will mean.

Each team is 9-2. The Jets won the first game, giving them the edge in the AFC East standings and making this a must-win for the Patriots for one major reason: No. 1 seeding for the playoffs.

If the Patriots lose, then they'll be more likely to play on the road in the wild-card round. To catch the Jets over the final four games, the Jets would need to lose at least two of them, while the Patriots would need to win all four.

The Jets' final four regular-season games: versus Miami Dolphins, at Pittsburgh Steelers, at Chicago Bears, versus Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots' final four regular-season games: at Chicago Bears, versus Green Bay Packers, at Buffalo Bills, versus Miami Dolphins.
