Patriots will draft 17th and 28th

Ousted from the postseason, the New England Patriots know where they'll draft in April.

The Patriots are slotted 28th in the first round based on when they were eliminated from the playoffs, overall record and, in the case of ties, strength of schedule. The Patriots also own the 17th pick, acquired in 2009 from the Oakland Raiders in the Richard Seymour trade.

The New York Jets, meanwhile, can't draft any earlier than 29th and would be thrilled if they were to pick last in the first round. That would mean they'd won the Super Bowl.

The Buffalo Bills are third in the order. The Miami Dolphins are 15th.
