On Sunday Steve Johnson apologized to his team for his controversial touchdown celebration, which cost the Buffalo Bills 15 yards in a 28-24 loss to the New York Jets.
But Johnson made an even better move Monday. Buffalo's receiver apologized to Jets counterpart Plaxico Burress for making fun of Burress shooting himself in the leg.
Burress shrugged off Johnson's touchdown celebration Sunday. He said he wasn't paying attention to it during the game and wasn't sure what happened until reporters filled him in after the game.
"I don't have any reaction to it. I'm a big fan of his," Burress said. "He's a great, young talent, and I love to watch him play. That doesn't bother me at all."
Johnson texted Burress his apology. Johnson still has some growing up to do, but his regret shows a certain level of maturity.
After the NFL decides whether to weigh in, it will be time to move on.
