A weekly examination of the Dolphins' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 20 | Last Week: 12 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
The Miami Dolphins are arguably the NFL's biggest surprise at 3-0. After back-to-back wins over the talented Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons, Miami now is earning respect from ESPN.com’s panel.
Miami received its highest spot of the season at No. 7. For the second straight week, the Dolphins moved up five spots, following a 27-23 come-from-behind victory over the Falcons.
Dolphins second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill is playing terrific football, and his growth is taking Miami to new heights. The Dolphins are also dominating games in the second half, outscoring opponents 41-16.
This is a lofty ranking for Miami. Dolphins fans have complained about being overlooked in the past, but that debate is no longer valid with the team coming in at No. 7 on Tuesday.
The opponents continue to get tougher for Miami. The Dolphins will travel to face the New Orleans Saints (3-0) in a battle of undefeated teams on "Monday Night Football." Miami will be a road underdog and has a chance to make another big statement in a national game.
