Sounds like Brandon Marshall is into the rivalry thing.
“Because it’s two teams in the same city, it’s definitely a rivalry,” the New York Jets wide receiver said Tuesday on Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Radio Show. “We definitely want to be known as the best team in New York, and we have to go out there and fight for that this weekend.”
He was referring, of course, to Sunday's game between the New York Jets and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Obviously, it's more than a city championship, as both teams are fighting for playoff spots. The Jets (6-5) are vying for a wild card, and the Giants (5-6) are trying to win the NFC East. The loser will be in a tough spot.
Don't expect Todd Bowles to play up the "best team in New York" angle. For him, it's just the next game on the schedule.
A win over the Giants would help the Jets' playoff chances, but it won't change the perception of the two teams. Until the Jets start winning Super Bowls, it'll be a Giants town.
