The question is why?
At best, signing the controversial Jones would make him a backup who might play several snaps a game on obvious passing downs. Cincinnati can select someone in next month's NFL draft to do the same--with far fewer character risks.
Besides getting someone on the cheap, I never fully understood Cincinnati's infatuation this offseason with Adam Jones. Cornerback is not a weakness, yet the Bengals were reportedly the first team to give Jones a workout this offseason.
The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers were the other two teams identified in the report, and perhaps Jones is a better fit for those clubs. But if Cincinnati for some reason decides to make this move, it would be another head-scratching decision by Bengals management.
