Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Colt McCoy will get some first-team reps in practice Wednesday. But Browns (5-8) coach Eric Mangini says he's not ready to name a starter for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals (2-11).
McCoy is coming off a high-ankle sprain and hasn't played since Nov. 21 in a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. When healthy, he provided a spark for the Browns and was 2-3 as a starter.
Mangini said he will decide later in the week between McCoy and veteran quarterback Jake Delhomme, who has struggled mightily. Delhomme threw for 86 yards, one interception and lost a fumble in a Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills (3-10).
It appears starting McCoy this weekend will come down to the health of his ankle, and getting reps early in the week is a good sign for the rookie.
