Ravens' John Harbaugh compares training camp to childbirth

PHILADELPHIA -- Some players believe this is the toughest and most demanding training camp they've had under John Harbaugh, which apparently comes as a surprise to the Baltimore Ravens head coach.

"To me, it's the same training camp we've always had," Harbaugh said after Wednesday's joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles. "Maybe it's like childbirth -- it's not so bad after you have your kid. I can't speak to that; maybe some of us here can."

Harbaugh then scanned the media to find a woman reporter.

"Does it seem so bad a couple years later?," Harbaugh asked. "But when you're going through it it's really rough. [The players are] going through it right now, so I can see why they think it's the toughest one.”

Harbaugh did acknowledge that his practices have evolved over the years. There's been an increased emphasis in recovery for players' bodies.

“We do a lot more things to take care of the guys between practices than we've ever done before," Harbaugh said. "To me, the thing is you can practice the way we've practiced if you've got guys that can recover and come back and stay healthy."

After Wednesday's practice, Harbaugh said his players dedicated a full hour to the recovery process.
