The AFC South in special teams' ratings

A good share of special teams coaches around the league take note of Rick Gosselin’s annual special teams ratings, that factor in all 22 special teams statistical categories.

The Titans came out No. 2 in Gosselin’s 2010 rankings, behind only New England.

The Jaguars, who added special teams ace Kassim Osgood as a free agent and really emphasized special teams, are 12th.

The Texans are 22nd.

The Colts are 31st, ahead of only San Diego.

Indianapolis has been bashed for its special teams’ performance over the years, but I give the Colts more leeway in 2010. Injuries put a lot of backups into the lineup, and with those move depleted the pool of special teamers.

Green Bay had a ton of injuries too and managed to win the Super Bowl. But take note the Packers rank 29th here.
