The Indianapolis Colts need at least one defensive tackle to help them even start to shift into a 3-4 defense. They are the primary team in the AFC South in need of interior defensive line help. The other three teams could look to the draft, but probably not as early as the Colts.

The Tennessee Titans might like a cheaper alternative to Sean Smith, who wasn’t effective in his first year in their 4-3.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could upgrade depth behind Terrance Knighton, who has a weight question, and Tyson Alualu, who’s got a knee question.

The Houston Texans seem content with Shaun Cody and Earl Mitchell as their nose tackles, but could be in position to draft one with the possibility of taking the best available player.

Mike Mayock of the NFL Network says it’s a good year to need or add a defensive tackle in the NFL draft.

“I love defensive tackles, not a fan of the defensive ends,” Mayock said. “I’ve seen anywhere from five to seven defensive tackles that have first-round grades, and the depth in it is really good too. You can go four, five rounds with the defensive tackles in any scheme -- 4-3, 3-4, nose tackle, three-technique. I love the defensive tackles.”
