Awaiting second opinion on Gabbert injury

A source tells ESPN’s Ed Werder that preliminary MRI results show Blaine Gabbert suffered a torn labrum in his left, non-throwing shoulder during the Jaguars' loss at Oakland on Sunday.

The team doesn’t yet know what that means for Gabbert’s potential to play Sunday in Green Bay and beyond. Gabbert is slated to visit with Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion Tuesday, after which a determination of Gabbert’s status will be made.

Gabbert was playing well when his shoulder was driven into the ground.

Gabbert has often provided good ammunition for critics this season. But backup Chad Henne was really bad in relief against the Raiders. Perhaps Henne fares better as the starter if he gets a week of practice to get ready.

The peaking Packers are not a good matchup for even the healthy Jaguars.

Any missed time for Gabbert is a bad thing. Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) is out Sunday and likely for a good while beyond that. And it should be prime time for showing it's Gabbert's offense.

It'll be quite hard for that to happen if Henne is under center.
