Oakland coach Tom Cable said the team is working on a long-term deal with defensive end Richard Seymour.
Seymour is an exclusive rights franchise player. He has not signed his tender and he is not at the first day of Oakland’s mandatory minicamp Friday. It runs through Sunday. Cable said there is a chance Seymour could be at the camp by the end of the weekend.
Signing Seymour to a long-term deal is of immense importance to Oakland. It gave up its No. 1 pick in next year’s draft to acquire him from New England last September. Seymour, 30, had four sacks for Oakland last season.
