I caught up with Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. to get his thoughts on the reported intra-AFC West jump made by San Diego linebacker Brandon Siler to Kansas City.
If he passes a physical, Siler is expected to sign with the Chiefs and compete for a starting job.
Here is Williamson’s opinion of Siler:
“He’s good, not great. He’d be a complement to Derrick Johnson,” Williamson said. “Kansas City needs that type of take-on inside linebacker... and Siler does that well. I consider Siler a solid, but unspectacular starter, who is probably best coming off the field on throwing downs. Siler was quite impressive in 2009 though and I see him as a player with good upside. I expected more from him in 2010. Maybe [Kansas City defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel] and company can get that back out of him.”
