Now that Tony Moeaki is off the physically unable to perform list, the Kansas City second-year tight end can become a key part of a varied offense. Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel has many weapons and Moeaki, who had 47 catches as a rookie last season, is a key player.
I caught up with Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. to get his thoughts on how Moeaki will fit in the offense which added big receiver Jonathan Baldwin in the first round and slot receiver Steve Breaston in free agency.
Here are Williamson’s thoughts: “The Chiefs are really doing it the New England way. They have varied receivers. Everyone is different. Many teams have similar receivers, but the Patriots don’t and Kansas City is doing that. Moeaki fits that mold. He is a great a weapon.
“I really think he is going to shine in that offense. He runs sharp routes, he’s a good blocker. He has exceptional hands. His strength is his overall game and he’s a big part of this offense. It’s going to be fun to watch.”
