One player to watch

One player to watch for each AFC West team heading into Week 16:

Denver, Elvis Dumervil, defensive end: Dumervil has been outstanding in the past seven games. He has all of his 8.5 sacks in that stretch since he has regained his health. The Broncos have a chance to close out the division this weekend, and a special player like Dumervil needs to step up in Buffalo.

Kansas City, Kyle Orton, quarterback: Last week, Kyle Orton got his second crack at the Green Bay Packers this season, this time as a Chief. He played Green Bay as the Broncos’ starter earlier in the season. It worked out great as Orton and the Chiefs handed Green Bay its first loss of the season. This week, Orton gets another crack at Oakland. The Raiders beat Orton and the Broncos in Denver in Week 1. He was a sideline spectator when Denver won at Oakland with Tim Tebow as the starter in early November.

Oakland, Richard Seymour, defensive lineman: Seymour has been dealing with injuries and he hasn’t made much of an impact lately, although he was active against Detroit on Sunday. The Raiders need to be special to make the playoffs and special players like Seymour have to lead the way.

San Diego, Antonio Gates, tight end: The star is three catches from becoming the Chargers' all-time leading receiver. He is poised to do that Saturday in Detroit, his hometown, in a game the Chargers will try to keep their playoff hopes alive.
