Here are some areas the San Diego Chargers need to focus on after a 38-10 loss at Detroit on Saturday:
Recap: This was a disappointing day for San Diego, which had renewed playoff hopes after a three-game winning streak in which the Chargers outscored its opponents 109-38. The Detroit Lions jumped all over the Chargers and led 24-0. San Diego has been eliminated from the playoffs and coach Norv Turner and general manager A.J. Smith could be out the door.
Biggest area to fix: Defense. The Chargers were completely overwhelmed by the Lions’ passing game. Oakland has a strong passing game and the Chargers must tighten up the ship.
Biggest area to build on: Nothing. The Chargers went from being hot to being dead.
What to watch for: Can Turner get his troops fired up for one last game as the Chargers try to keep rival Oakland out of the playoffs? It’s all they have at this point.
