Ron Jaworski is a big fan of half the starting quarterbacks in the AFC West.
Continuing his series of the top 30 quarterbacks in the NFL, the ESPN analyst believes San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers is the seventh best quarterback in the NFL.
New Denver quarterback Peyton Manning will be ranked somewhere in the top five. Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger is No. 6. Jaworski ranked Kansas City’s Matt Cassel at No. 22 and Oakland’s Carson Palmer at No. 21.
I think the Rivers’ ranking is fair. I think he is the best of the non-Super Bowl winning quarterbacks. He has all the tools.
Yes, he was sloppy for the first 10 games of the 2011 season. It was his worst NFL season. But Rivers finished strong and ended up having a good season. I expect him to back up Jaworski’s high ranking with anther stellar season in 2012.
