Chargers get Mathews, Gates back

The San Diego Chargers are getting their health back.

Both running back Ryan Mathews (broken clavicle) and tight end Antonio Gates (ribs) are practicing Wednesday. Barring setbacks, both players should be ready to go in a key game against visiting Atlanta on Sunday. Mathews has been out since the first preseason game and Gates missed Sunday’s win over Tennessee.

In other AFC West news:

Denver star pass-rusher Von Miller was limited in practice Wednesday with a hip injury. Denver nickel cornerback Chris Harris is still not practicing with an ankle injury. He didn’t play Monday at Atlanta.

In addition to tight end Kevin Boss (concussion), Kansas City guard Ryan Lilja didn’t practice Wednesday. Receiver Steve Breaston (wrist), Dexter McCluster (shoulder) and Devon Wylie (hamstring) were all limited Wednesday.

Oakland linebacker Rolando McClain didn’t practice Wednesday because of concussion and ankle injuries.

The Chargers re-signed cornerback Greg Gatson to the practice squad. He was cut this week.

UPDATE: The Chargers announced Mathews practiced fully and Gates was limited Wednesday.
