Here are some areas the Denver Broncos need to focus on after a 30-23 home win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday:
Recap: The Broncos are rolling. They have won five straight games and they are 7-3 and in full command of the AFC West. They have a three-game lead with six games to go, but they essentially have a four game lead because they own the tiebreaker over San Diego. Denver has one less win than the other three AFC West teams have combined. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Denver has scored at least 30 points in five straight games for the first time in team history.
Biggest area to fix: Fumbling. It is one of Denver’s few issues these days and they fumbled twice and lost one on Sunday. It has to stop doing that. Fumbles can ruin a season.
Biggest area to build on: Von Miller. The second-year linebacker is having an unreal season. He has 13 sacks -- including three Sunday along with forced two fumbles. He has 24.5 sacks in 25 games. According to the ESPN Stats & Information, it is the second most in NFL history through 25 games. Late Kansas City star Derrick Thomas had 25 sacks in his first 25 games. Thomas is Miller’s idol and he is the reason why Miller wears No. 58.
What to watch for: Denver plays Kansas City for the first time this season at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. The Chiefs are 1-9.
