NFL cuts have begun as the 2013 season is officially on the clock and more cuts will come. Some are interesting, while others are routine.
One cut that caused some notice around the league was the Giants’ release of running back Ahmad Bradshaw on Wednesday. The free-agent running back class is not great and Bradshaw, who is coming off of a foot injury, is a solid player. He has had more than 1,000 yards rushing in two of the past three seasons.
All four AFC West teams could use a running back in some form. I think Bradshaw could get a lot of interest around the league and the fact that he is on the market more than a month before free agency starts could be to his benefit.
I think the teams in the AFC West that he most fits in with are the Chargers and the Broncos. If one of those teams thinks Bradshaw is a great fit both in terms of scheme and finances and the team feels it might not be able to do better in free agency or the draft, I wouldn’t be shocked if he was pursued.
The Raiders and the Chiefs could also use a running back. But the Raiders are currently over the salary cap and adding a running back right now might not be the smartest move. Kansas City’s need is not pressing and getting Bradshaw might be more pricey than what it wants to spend on a player, who wouldn’t be the primary back.

The Eagles cut left tackle Demetress Bell. Don’t expect former Eagles and current Chiefs coach Andy Reid to turn his attention from re-signing left tackle Branden Albert to reuniting with Bell. He lost his job last season.
