Cards Mailbag: Possible draft situations, Part 1

Welcome to #CardsMailbag, a weekly installment that allows you to ask me questions about the Arizona Cardinals throughout the week via Twitter @joshweinfuss. I'll answer them every weekend during the offseason. Make sure to use the hashtag #CardsMailbag.

@joshweinfuss: Daryl Washington was eligible to apply for reinstatement 60 days before the one-year mark of his suspension - May 30, 2014 - so he could've filed the paperwork on March 30. But according to reports, Washington will begin the reinstatement process in the next couple of weeks.

@joshweinfuss: I think the Cardinals will always keep an ear to the ground when it comes to Adrian Peterson and they can certainly make trade offers to the Minnesota Vikings, but as I've said all along, I don't think general manager Steve Keim is the type of executive to mortgage the immediate future of the team for one player. Bruce Arians has said several times that he likes the crop of running backs in this year's draft and if either Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley are available at 24th, I'd expect the Cardinals to draft either of them.

@joshweinfuss: I do, but only if Keim's research into Randy Gregory pans out. Obviously, Arizona isn't afraid to take a chance on players who have off-field issues - Read: Mathieu, Tyrann - but they also had Patrick Peterson and his father vouching for Mathieu. Gregory would be a major catch at 24th, but I don't see him dropping that far. If failing a drug test is the biggest blemish on his resume, I think plenty of teams will take a chance.

@joshweinfuss: Keim is adamant about drafting the best player available, but I wouldn't be surprised if Arizona drafts either a running back, outside linebacker or offensive lineman at No. 24.
