Cards Mailbag: Hamstrings racking up during camp

Welcome to #CardsMailbag, a weekly installment that allows you to ask me questions about the Arizona Cardinals throughout the week via Twitter @joshweinfuss. I'll answer them every week during training camp. Make sure to use the hashtag #CardsMailbag.

@joshweinfuss: I think anytime you see this many injuries it's something to worry about, but at the same time this is happening in training camps across the league. Overall I don't see it as a major issue to be concerned with at the moment.

@joshweinfuss: Not unless it ends up being a long-term issue, which it's not thought to be at the moment. Coach Bruce Arians hasn't put a timeline on Michael Floyd's return but it's believed he should be ready for the season opener Sept. 13.

@joshweinfuss: None. When Arizona goes to nickel, Deone Bucannon slides into the box to play alongside Sean Weatherspoon (or whoever is playing that ILB position). I think Gabe Martin, Alani Fua and Edwin Jackson have all been playing well and all three have a shot at making the roster as backups to Weatherspoon and Kevin Minter.

@joshweinfuss: I think he's a definite possibility but I think Markus Golden will likely end up being a situational linebacker instead of a three-down linebacker. I think we'll see a rotation of Kareem Martin, Lorenzo Alexander and Golden on the outside. If depth is an issue, then LaMarr Woodley will make the team. If the Cards are satisfied with those four, he could end up being on the outside looking in during final cuts.

@joshweinfuss: Do you want me to break down the entire roster here? It's only a week into camp, meaning it's too early to say who stays and who goes. At wide receiver, however, I tend to believe coach Bruce Arians when he says the Cards will keep six -- Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown, Jaron Brown, Brittan Golden and J.J. Nelson.

@joshweinfuss: There's been a few reports circulating that range from three to six weeks, Bruce Arians said there's no set timetable because of the uniqueness of the injury.

@joshweinfuss: Slim to none but take out the slim. After five arrests in three seasons, the Cardinals -- and likely every other team -- will stay far away from Aldon Smith. It won't help that he's also facing the possibility of a suspension by the league for his legal issues.
