Rookie NT Xavier Williams gets MRI on elbow

GLENDALE, Ariz. – After all but playing himself onto the 53-man roster, rookie nose tackle Xavier Williams suffered an elbow injury late in the Arizona Cardinals’ final training camp practice on Friday.

Williams walked off the field after practice, accompanied by team trainer Tom Reed, with an ice pack on his left elbow. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Williams had an MRI after practice.

Williams, 6-foot-2, 309 pounds, was signed as an undrafted free agent in May.

The Cardinals leave Saturday for Oakland. Arians said wide receiver Michael Floyd, tackle Rob Crisp, guard Mike Iupati, tight end Troy Niklas, safety Ross Weaver, defensive tackle Ed Stinson and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will not make the trip.

Cornerback Jerraud Powers and running back Chris Johnson passed their running tests Thursday, practiced Friday and are expected to play Sunday.
