TEMPE, Ariz. – Sometimes the NFL can be like physics class.
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the Arizona Cardinals traded right guard Jonathan Cooper to the New England Patriots on Tuesday morning, it left a gaping hole at right guard. According to reports, the reaction to that action was guard Evan Mathis visiting the Cardinals on Tuesday and leaving with an offer for a two-year deal, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan and other reports.
The 34-year-old started 12 regular-season games and all three playoff games, including Super Bowl 50, at left guard but is capable of playing right guard.
Mathis will be entering his 13th NFL season.
