Cardinals re-sign P Drew Butler, cut Ryan Quigley

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Six weeks to the day after waiving punter Drew Butler with an injury settlement, the Arizona Cardinals re-signed him and released fellow punter Ryan Quigley.

Tuesday was the first day the Cardinals could re-sign Butler, according to their injury settlement.

Butler suffered a severely sprained ankle in Week 1 and suffered an Achilles injury in Week 3, leading to Quigley’s signing on Sept. 28 and Butler’s release the next week.

Butler returns after averaging 40.3 yards per punt, which was ranked 34th in the NFL after 10 weeks, and 33.7 net yards per punt, which was ranked 33rd.

Quigley wasn’t much better.

He ranked 33rd in average yards per punt with 41.7 and 32nd in net yards per punt with 37.2.
