TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals promoted wide receiver Kerry Taylor to the active roster on Saturday afternoon, the team announced.
Cornerback Jamell Fleming was cut to make room
Taylor’s addition to the 53-man roster comes at an interesting time, with receiver Larry Fitzgerald listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions.
There’s either more to the hamstring Fitzgerald tweaked on Wednesday or there’s a greater concern about his availability and potential impact than Cardinals coach Bruce Arians let on.
The Cardinals only have four receivers on the roster -- Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, Andre Roberts and Jaron Brown. Arians said during training camp that Patrick Peterson would be considered the team’s fifth. And without tight end Rob Housler, who’s missing his second straight game with a right ankle sprain, the Cardinals are without another option in their passing game.
Taylor was active for just the Cardinals' final regular-season game in 2012, against the San Francisco 49ers.
Whether Fitzgerald’s injury is worse than announced or there’s just more concern about his availability, the addition of Taylor makes you wonder.
