Falcons sign five of seven draft picks

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons have signed five of their seven draft picks, according to the NFL transactions list.

Second-round pick Jalen Collins, fourth-round pick Justin Hardy, fifth-round pick Grady Jarrett, and seventh-round selections Jake Rodgers and Akeem King are all under contract. Jarrett signed a four-year contract with a maximum value of $2,732,925. He received a signing bonus of $247,582 with base salaries of $435,000 (2015), $525,000 (2016),$615,000 (2017) and $705,000 (2018).

The details of the other four deals were not immediately available.

First-round pick Vic Beasley and third-round pick Tevin Coleman are the only draft picks unsigned.

General manager Thomas Dimitroff talked about getting the drafted players under contract so quickly.

"For us, we're really encouraged by the opportunity to jump in full-force, get as many guys done as we can," Dimitroff said. "We'd love to get them all done before we even finish [rookie] camp. That would be ideal. It's one of those things that has changed, I believe, a lot in the league. It used to be delayed a lot more. As it pertains to the [collective bargaining agreement], I think it's something that is precipitated by the new CBA."

Six of the seven draft picks are participating in the team's rookie minicamp, which continued Saturday. Collins is sidelined coming off right foot surgery but is expected back for training camp.

The Falcons' rookie salary pool is set at $6,212,005.
