Ravens' Eugene Monroe is 'very optimistic' about playing

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Offensive tackle Eugene Monroe said he's "very optimistic" about playing in the AFC divisional playoff game after a limited practice Wednesday.

Monroe, who suffered an ankle injury on Dec. 21, has missed the last two games including Saturday's wild-card win at Pittsburgh. He has practiced the past two days.

"It's definitely positive," Monroe said of returning to practice this week. "I feel time is on my side. The game is not until Saturday midday. I'm progressing and seeing how this thing ends up."

If Monroe misses a third straight game, the Ravens will continue to start undrafted rookie James Hurst at left tackle.

Tight end Owen Daniels and linebacker Daryl Smith were given the day off.
