Ravens' free-agent rankings: No. 14

Let's continue the ranking of the Baltimore Ravens' 15 unrestricted free agents:

Position: Nose tackle

The good: Cody is young (26), experienced (87 games played) and plays a position where teams are looking for depth. Even though he has limited ability, Cody is strong and tough to move inside. He comes from a traditionally tough Ravens defense that prides itself in stopping the run.

The bad: He was indicted by a grand jury in January on animal cruelty charges as well as drug possession. In addition to this legal issue, Cody has undergone hip surgeries the past two seasons. He was only a full-time starter for one season and was active for one game last season. There has been issues with his work ethic and weight.

The bottom line: The combination of his legal trouble with his declining skill level may end his football career. Cody didn't receive much interest in free agency last season (he re-signed with the Ravens in April for the veteran minimum), and that was without the animal cruelty charges. The Ravens wanted to distance themselves so badly that they cut him nearly two months before his contract was going to expire anyway. The rest of the NFL may follow suit.
