In one half of play Saturday against the Washington Redskins, Flacco connected with Smith five times for 95 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown. He threw five completions for 42 yards to everyone else.
Smith had been quiet for most of the preseason with two catches for 9 yards in the previous two games. But on the game's fourth play, Smith caught a long pass from Flacco on the sideline, spun around Redskins cornerback David Amerson and outraced the Washington defense for the biggest play of the Ravens' preseason.
This was a rebound effort for Flacco, who threw two interceptions in his last preseason game at Philadelphia. He finished 8-of-13 for 137 yards and produced a 122.9 passer rating.
Flacco was strong but not scintillating in his last action before the Sept. 13 regular-season opener at Denver. He led the Ravens to scores on three of his four drives, although he only totaled 13 points (the last two scores were Justin Tucker field goals from 31 and 48 yards).
