Over the next two weeks, we're making predictions for all 75 Big 12 games of the season. We continue the series today with Week 13 and the game you've all been waiting for.
TCU 48, Baylor 45: How could this game not live up to all the hype? TCU's youthful defense gives up some big scores but rallies just in time, forcing a punt with 2:30 left in a tie ballgame. Then Trevone Boykin plays some hero ball, connecting with Josh Doctson and Emanuel Porter on third downs and driving the Frogs 65 yards. Jaden Oberkrom completes the instant classic by drilling a 33-yard field goal as time expires. They're partying in Funkytown on Black Friday as TCU finishes the regular season 11-1 with a College Football Playoff bid all but guaranteed.
Oklahoma State 38, Oklahoma 30: The Sooners, down 31-30 late, look like the better team in this back-and-forth affair and just need to get one stop. On third down, Mike Stoops sends Eric Striker and a frenzied blitz after Mason Rudolph. He connects with James Washington, who slips out of a tackle and takes it to the house to clinch another Bedlam stunner.
Texas 36, Texas Tech 17: Charlie Strong's defenders don't knock Patrick Mahomes out of the game, but they do knock him around on Thanksgiving night. John Bonney scoops and scores on a Mahomes fumble in the first quarter and it's downhill from there. Johnathan Gray rushes for 162 yards and two scores for a successful senior night.
Kansas State 24, Kansas 16: Everybody counts out the Jayhawks in David Beaty's introduction to the rivalry. The underdogs respond with three tough quarters but miss too many red zone opportunities. K-State extends its lead on an Alex Delton rushing TD early in the fourth quarter and sit on it the rest of the way. They're going to need one more W to go bowling.
West Virginia 37, Iowa State 34: For some reason these two have played tight games ever since West Virginia joined the conference. Their fourth meeting comes down to an untimely interception for Sam B. Richardson. Daryl Worley grabs a tipped ball and goes all the way to go ahead midway through the fourth. After another stop, Rushel Shell takes over and runs out the clock. The Cyclones finish 4-8.
