Thin Kansas squad gets thinner with two departures

Do you have any eligibility left?

If so, David Beaty may need you to suit up for Kansas.

A thin Jayhawks roster got even thinner on Wednesday with the departures of offensive linemen Junior Visinia and Joey Bloomfield, reports Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star.

"The losses of Visinia and Bloomfield shine a light on an offensive line that could face some depth issues in 2015," Dodd wrote.

Visinia probably was a starter in 2015 while Bloomfield would have provided quality depth.

KU had 64 scholarship players during the summer months, meaning Beaty could have the hardest rebuild project in college football on his hands. It's a youthful roster that is left searching for playmakers.

However, it all adds up to low expectations for Beaty during his first season (and beyond, frankly) so if the Jayhawks new coach can continue to lay a quality foundation in Lawrence, Kansas, he should be afforded the time to see the seeds he plants bare fruit. Read more here,
