Big 12 Week 1 bowl projections: West Virginia impresses

TCU and Baylor may not be the only contenders for the Big 12 title.

The conference co-favorites each started the season with a win, but neither was the Big 12's most impressive team in Week 1. That honor goes to West Virginia, which dominated Georgia Southern in a 44-0 shutout win led by a Mountaineers' defense that looked like it could be one of the Big 12's best.

TCU remains at the top after a gutty road win at Minnesota, and Baylor remains just below the Horned Frogs after Seth Russell's solid debut as the main man behind center. Oklahoma rolled to an easy win, while Oklahoma State survived a road trip to Central Michigan. Kansas State and Texas Tech won, but major questions (Jesse Ertz's injury and Tech's defense) remain for both squads.

We'll learn a lot more about these teams in Week 2 as some squads regroup and others hope to carry the momentum of an opening win into this weekend. Expect plenty of movement on this list in the next week or so.
